If Pac Man were real

Check out these photos by Patrick Runte. His new series titles “Jump ‘n’ Run,” displays scenes from old videos games in a real life setting. “The work is inspired by Oskar Schlemmer and his idea of the ‘Triadic Ballett’ and the term ‘Streetplay’”, Runte explains. “I wanted to compile old video games, which are based on simple geometric forms and make them able to be experienced / felt by the human body.” I think they are hilarious. =)

GREAT Print Ads for Dragon Noodle Company

When the Dragon Noodle Shop in Vegas needed a a new eye-catching campaign, the LA-based company David & Goliath came to the rescue. These prints play up the classic cliches found in most Chinese restaurant ads and definitely catch MY eye! Great stuff.

Comic-Con San Diego 2009

comic-con09-googleSo, if you don’t know by now… Comic Con is a big deal. Even google got the memo. Comic Con is a 4 day event held at the San Diego Convention Center. It was originally created to feature comic books, and science fiction film and television, but has now expanded to pop culture artists, anime, manga, video games and all things sci-fi. You can find guest appearances by celebrities, artists and pop-culture icons and of course LOTS and LOTS of costumes! The convention is the largest of its kind in the world, filling to capacity the San Diego Convention Center with over 125,000 attendees in 2007. Everyone is tweeting and posting pics from the event AS WE SPEAK. Here are some good ones from the past 2 days:

Sierra Mist makes you laugh

Marketing for a soft drink can go many different ways. I saw this commercial for Sierra Mist Ruby Splash last night and I immediately searched for the creator. It’s true… when I watch TV, all I see is the animated elements, the fonts and that great shot with a jib arm. The campaign was run by Goodby, Silverstein & Partners. That’s all I have for now, but when I get more details, I’ll pass them along. See the commercial:

This got me thinking, is this funny to the general public? Is humor the way to go? What do you think?

You know you work at a start-up when…

1. Your boss actually lives at the office and sleeps 10 feet away from your desk
2. Your conference room “D” is actually the dining room
3. Your work attire now includes your entire closet

4. You have phone cords running throughout the room
5. Your supply closet doubles as a skype call center
cf2
6. The co-founder of your company is your proof reader
7. When they ask for you, you have to say “hold on one minute” and pretend you actually have an assistant answering your calls before you come back and say “Hello”
8. The sales team brings eggs to cook for breakfast
9. You have actually taken a nap in the boss’ bed
10. You use your neighbor’s garage door as the back drop for your photo shoot
11. You have more food in the office fridge than your one at home
12. Your default password is the office dog
cf3

13. You drink with the boss on Fridays
14. You never know who will be there when you walk into the office
15. Your web developer keeps a trampoline in his trunk and you take lunch breaks in the park (or maybe that’s only artistic hub)
jump 4
16. You leave your slippers under your desk
17. You bring your plant from home to live on your desk
18. You recycle birthday decorations
19. You have so many roles your job definition is impossible
20. You wake up wondering what emergency will arise today
21. You’ve wrestled with a dog in the office, unsuccessfully trying to pry a condom from its mouth
22. You keep extra changes of clothes at the office for days you need a run, or get too sweaty making calls
cf4

23. Your office cleaning lady cleans your home, and does the shopping for both
24. Every spare wall in the house has a marker board on it
25. You laugh your ass off everyday because you are working with your best friends
26. You don’t remember who comes up with the next big idea anymore – your meetings are electric with ideas bouncing off the walls
27. And sometimes, when everything comes together just right you move at the speed of light

Say Farewell to the Poloroid

poloroidsmPolaroid has just announced that it will discontinue the production of instant Polaroid film. They halted production of cameras about a year ago and they said this would officially be the last month of production. With every camera and cellphone giving you instant photos, the love of the Polaroid was doomed to fizzle.

This is a sad day for all. I have owned my Polaroid for only about 2/3 years and I am a huge fan. The gritty quality, color and shape of the little images is so unique and you never know what you’re going to get! With Polaroids you won’t have all of your friends instantly looking over your shoulder to see if they look fat in that pic and demanding a re-shoot. It’s captures a moment and there is no going back.

polaroid_newPolaroid has just released a new PoGo Instant Printer, which prints 2×3 inch photos with a peel off sticky back using no ink (Learn about this new print by ZINK) It’s great, but just not the same. Let’s see if this catches on…

People have banned together online and in blogs to share their stories about the original Polaroids. Check out SavePolaroid.com to share your instant photos and to learn how you can help Save the Polaroids!

See an old Polaroid commercial from the 60′s: (Kind of hard to see – but still entertaining!)

Here is another adorable Polaroid commercial.

LONG LIVE THE POLAROID!

Movember: Mustaches for a cause!

mo1

It’s that time of year again! “Movember” (formerly November) is the time when men from all over the world shave their face for the last time before growing their “Mo’s.” Australian for mustache, the Mo’s are a grown to raise money and awareness for men’s health and the fight against prostate cancer. Participants are known as “Mo Bros” and they grow their Mo’s all month in anticipation for the Gala Partés where they could claim the prestigious prize as Man of Movember. These Gala parties are held in major cities in the US including Aspen, Chicago, Los Angles, New York and San Francisco.

ron_burgundyBut why mustaches? Most men feel they have to be tough and don’t go to the doctors as often as women. Growing a mustache is the “manly” way of reminding other guys to take care of their health and get checked for prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is the most common non-skin cancer in the US with one in six American men developing the disease and more than 28,000 men dying of the disease every year. Launching the US campaign in 2007, Movember raised $740,568 for the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF). Ultimately this investment is about reducing the number of preventable deaths from prostate cancer. Check out Movember outcomes and impact.

Which is your Mo style?!
